What do you learn at the Airway Symposium?
The respiratory symposium is considered an emergency physician refresher and is an interdisciplinary course for physicians, nurses and paramedics who wish to improve their skills in the field of respiratory and emergency management as well as invasive techniques. Up-to-dateness and practical relevance are central elements of the symposium. Impulse lectures impart the necessary theory. Under the guidance of experts, the knowledge is consolidated in small groups.
Guided by an anaesthesiologist, you will train procedures such as the unexpectedly difficult airway in adults and children, learn how to extubate a patient as safely as possible and have to coniotomize in pigs under real conditions.
You will also practice the correct emergency horacotomy according to Bülau and learn how to use fibre optics. We will also show you the safe procedure for a fiber-optic wax intubation. In other words: you will be brought up to date in 2 days in airway management.
What can you do after the airway symposium?
- You optimise your know-how in many critical areas of anaesthesiology, intensive care and emergency medicine.
- In particular, we deal with preclinical and intraclinical respiratory emergency situations.
- Train the airway algorithm to the unexpectedly difficult airway (also in children)
- Get useful tips and tricks on alternative airways
- We’ll teach you the right handling of a videolaryngoscope.
- You’re practicing fiber optic awake intubation.
- and much more

That’s what the participants say about the airway symposium:
The Innsbrucker Atemweg Symposium offers intensive and high-quality work in small groups. Practical relevance is a top priority. The course is designed by experts for all those who want to further refine their previous knowledge. Training on high-quality dolls and preparations rounds off this internationally outstanding course.Prim. PD Dr Peter Paal, MBA EDAIC EDIC
Excellent lecturers and many practical exercises in a pleasant atmosphere. I will be happy to return.Dr. Wolfgang Schullian
Short theoretical blocks are followed by realistic and practice-oriented emergency simulations adapted to the individual level of knowledge and training. The theoretical knowledge is intensively put into practice and consolidated in small groups. Experienced, top-motivated trainers also respond to the individual participants’ wishes and enable them to practice dealing with complex situations. Whether at the beginning of his training or after many years of professional experience: Skills need to be trained and refined in order to be one step ahead in an emergency. Thank you very much for your commitment and the great training! Gladly again! I can only recommend you!Dr. Miriam Potocnik
The last NA refresher at Simulation.Tirol was a very positive experience for me. Due to the individual work in small groups, the professional trainers, the pleasant atmosphere and last but not least because of the location, I can recommend the course without reservation!Prim. Mag. Dr. Klaus Buttinger
I am really enthusiastic about this emergency doctor refresher course! I have already visited several emergency doctor refreshers, this one is by far the best. The instructors are extremely competent, humorous and helpful, who have come up with a great concept so that the participants and their patients really benefit from it in the end. Cases are played through in the small group with the best equipped doll, nobody really has to fear the debriefing in a friendly and collegial atmosphere, on the contrary, everyone can refine their knowledge and skills, under the motto “Mistakes usually only happen once, what goes wrong in the course can only go better in an emergency”. Many thanks for this experience, I can only warmly recommend the course at Simulation.Tirol, also the atmosphere around it is wonderful, it was certainly not the last one I made at Simulation.Tirol!Dr. Barbara Vorlaufer
An emergency doctor refresher course without BlaBla! The course leader manages to get the facts to the point in a very charming and memorable way. The course is well structured with many possibilities to implement what you have learned. I particularly liked the structured individual feedback to each participant with tips and tricks. I am looking forward to further training at Simulation.Tirol!Dr. Lucija Stögbauer
